To connect to a leased line, you must acquire a periodical subscription from your local telecommunications company. A base-band modem is also required to establish the link. Distribution of the bandwidth over your network is achieved with the use of a router, and hub or switch. Typical connection speeds of 64Kbps, 128Kbps, and 256Kbps are available, with the option to upgrade to even greater speeds.

Web cafes and large companies that require an entire network of computers to have constant access to the Internet usually favor this type of connection. The ability to provide high bandwidth access is also a major reason for its preference over conventional Dial-Up accounts. And with a leased line, you need not worry about paying additional access charges incurred from excess usage since you are given unlimited hours for a flat fee.
